Sanford: Last U.S. Governor to Accept Federal Stimulus »

I guess it’s official now that Gov. Mark Sanford has accepted $700 Billion in Federal Stimulus funds. I applaud Sanford for holding out this long and admire him for having the courage to stand up for Washington. However, I wish that he had not caved in to the political pressures. It’s hard to imagine what the pressures of his decision were but I fear that his acceptance of these funds will do his political career great harm.

It appears that SC state lawmakers have no ability to bypass Gov. Mark Sanford’s refusal of $700 million in federal stimulus money according to Attorney General Henry McMaster.

I applaud Gov. Sanford for standing up for what is right. He doesn’t want to take the stimulus money unless we can use it to pay off debt. This State can’t afford more debt! I personally don’t want to take any of the Federal stimulus money.
